Nagaland is all set to host the Khelo India University Games 2023 at IG Stadium in Kohima on February 23.
Addressing the media on Thursday, Nagaland Youth Resources and Sports secretary Anthony Ngullie stated it was an honour and privilege for Nagaland to host the Khelo India University Games. He added that the state is fully prepared to conduct wrestling as part of the games.
Director, Youth Resources & Sports, Kethosituo Sekhose informed that around 240 athletes and 80 officials will take part in the games. He also said that guests have been arriving since 19th February. He stated that reception desks have been set up at Dimapur railway station and airport to receive the athletes and officials.
Sekhose informed that for men, there will be two styles: Greko-Roman style and freestyle, while for women, it will only be freestyle.
The games will begin with the commencement programme from February 23, 2024 at IG Stadium, Kohima where Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio will grace the occasion. The games will come to an end on February 25 and the guests will return on February 26. The 4th edition of the Khelo India University Games is being organised by the North Eastern states with Assam as the main host.
