The World Music Day observation was inaugurated with a candle lighting ceremony by Rhythms of Manipur president Likmabam Manibabu, a release stated.

Musical presentations of various genres including classical instrumental, percussion recital and fusion music were the highlights of the celebration, it added.

After the main programme with many musical performances, the celebration concluded with a performance of Rhythms of Manipur’s national award winning fusion music composition called ‘Dancing Drummers’, it stated.

It can be mentioned that the World Music Day started from France in the year 1982, which then spread all across the globe, the release said. The Rhythms of Manipur had been observing the celebration from the mid-eighties, it added.
