Patriotic song ‘Eikhoi Meiteini’ released

Eikhoi Meiteini: The only purpose of the song is to give courage to Meitei people, says Mayanlambam Uttam.

A patriotic song ‘Eikhoi Meiteini’ was released on Sunday at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal by Asst Prof Chana Lukhoi of Manipur University of Culture, Chana Lukhoi and AMMIK president Khaidem Thoiba.

The song was written, composed and sung by Mayanlambam Uttam.

Uttam said that the song is about the history of Manipur taken from Nongda Lairen Pakhangba. The era of Nongda Lairen Pakhangba is important in Manipur history and many questions may be raised regarding the topic, Uttam said, adding that he’ll leave it to the scholars to discuss the matter.

The song is to encourage the Meitei youngsters who are ready to give their lives for the motherland, the singer said. If youngsters follow the rhythm, they will also follow the meaning of the song and eventually question it, and when they try to find the answer, they will assume to know how Kangleipak was formed, he added.

“If those questions are asked, then the purpose of the song can be assumed fulfilled. The only purpose of the song is to give courage to Meitei people”, Uttam said.
