Prizes for short film competition distributed

The best short film was awarded to 'Fake Love' and the runners up award went to 'Stranded'.

The Management Committee and Staff of One Stop Centre (Sakhi), Pherzawl District, on Wednesday organised Award Distribution Ceremony for the Short Films Competition on 'Domestic Violence: Its Ills & Maladies' at the Auditorium of Rayburn High, New Lamka.

The programme was graced MLA of Tipaimukh AC, Ngursanglur Sanate as chief guest; as guest of honour by the Director of Social Welfare, Government of Manipur, Ngangom Uttam Singh; as chief host by the DC of Pherzawl, Haulianlal Guite; as special guest by SP of Pheezawl, A Ghanashyam Sharma. DLOs, women CSO leaders of different communities also attended the event.

The best short film was awarded to 'Fake Love' and the runners up award went to 'Stranded'. As for individual winners, Best Actor was won by Sangboi Zou for 'Dear Mom'; Best Actress by Esther Haokip for 'Tears of Wife; Best Director by Naomi Tungdim for 'Stranded' while the Viewer’s Choice or most viewed on YouTube was won by 'Stranded'.

MLA Ngursanglur Sanate highlighted the importance of awareness and addressing the issue of domestic violence against women saying that the good or bad things depend on each individual including the educated.

Domestic violence is part of human nature and it can't be stopped easily and needs to be addressed, said the MLA. He also said that we have been governed by customs and cultures since the time of the forefathers where women did all the work in the house and there was no distinction between man and women.
