OC Meira conferred with 'Jury Special Mention Award’

Manipuri film director OC Meira was conferred the “Jury Special Mention Award” for his feature film “Asengba Eral”.

Renowned Manipuri film director OC Meira has been conferred the “Jury Special Mention Award” during the two-day NIRI 9-2nd International Film Festival 2023 award ceremony held at the Sangeet Kala Mandir in Kolkata.

The award was presented to him for his Manipuri feature film “Asengba Eral” which got the official selection for the said festival.

A total of 296 feature films of different languages from across the globe were shown during the festival; “Asengba Eral” was among the only eight selected films.

The film is produced by Kshetrimayum Subadani under the banner Dosuyali Film Production Manipur. Story and the lyrics of the film are also done by the producer herself.

Leisangthem Tonthoinganbi also bagged the best actress award in the short film category. The award was presented to her for the Manipuri short film “Eewai”, directed by Khwairakpam Bishwamittra.

It may be mentioned that Tonthoi had already been given the best actress award twice for the said film produced under the banner Nongdol mamikol film.
