As the season for merrymaking and celebrating by spending time with family has come, the people of the state and region are appealed to maintain peaceful environment and festive mood in the state and all Zeliangrong inhabited areas, ZUF stated in a release issued by information and publicity secretary KD Gangmei.

While anticipating the festive season and preparing for Christmas, the offensive military operation in public places at Karuluang (Chamtila), Assam, has caused public unrest and disturbances; it resulted in public casualty, which was unfortunate and resented over, it stated.  

Military groups are cautioned to exercise civic and decent bearing and refrain from creating public unrest and insecurity, ZUF stated. The Karuluang (Chamtila) and the local women protesting against the perpetrators of civilians in open spaces at Karuluang (Chamtila) Village is a rightful step taken to demonstrate civil rights against all forms of human rights violation, ZUF further stated. The initiative of women stepping out in such a manner to take out protest rallies is laudable and appreciated, it added.

The front further warns that all forms of public disturbances and collection of tax in NH-37 and in all Zeliangrong inhabited areas should be stopped. All concerned are informed to refrain from all illegal activities and disturbances and create a peaceful season during Christmas and New Year festivals, it stated. Non-compliance to this notification shall be strictly dealt without further information or excuse, it added.

The ZUF also extended its homecoming welcome to Tichuilung Gonmei, Razou-peyu, Zeilad Region of NSCN (I-M) and sergeant major Johnson Gonmei of NNC to the fold of ZUF, it mentioned.
