The Zeliangrong United Front (ZUF) has strongly condemned the recent ‘raiding attack’ on Sunday at its mobile camp at Noney allegedly by the AR.

The incident was very unthought-of for Assam Rifles to commit such an offensive operation when the ZUF is restraining any offensive operation and interested to find a conducive climate for peaceful resolution with the Government of India in matter of resolving the protracted Zeliangrong people’s political movement for a final settlement, ZUF stated in a release issued by its information and publicity secretary KD Gangmei on Monday.

ZUF was hoping that the Indian military forces would exercise a certain level of understanding with the Front but was disappointed to face the reality, it stated. The Indian Military forces are creating public unrest, anxiety and threats when the public is cherishing and preparing for a season of Christmas and blessed moments of the year, it mentioned.

The incident was unfortunate, wherein casualties on the counterpart could have resulted out of a defensive attack, ZUF further stated.

The Indian Military Forces are cautioned to refrain from creating offensive activities, using or deploying/employing certain insurgent groups along their operation against the people based military organisation, it stated. The Indian Military forces are further informed not to play any dishonest means to demean or destroy the credibility of the organisation, it stated.

If such activity is repeated in the future, the ZUF may be compelled to even exercise offensive measures, it added.
