The 22nd state-level open tournament of the Zougal Memorial Volleyball Shield for men and women concluded at P Kamdou Veng Ground in Churachandpur district on Wednesday.
In the final matches of the tournament, KLSLC (Kachikhul) secured the men’s trophy while ZoWHRO (B team) won the women's final. The match started after a formal closing ceremony attended by Saikot MLA Paolienlal Haokip as chief guest along with the leaders of Zou's CSOs. The chief guest recalled that he was a big fan of the game in his youth and commended the organisers for the initiative.
In the men's final, KYLSC (Kachikhul) defeated YMDO (Heirangoithong) with a score of 18-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-22. In the women's final, the ZoWHRO (B team) defeated ZYO Tuaitengphai with a score of 15-25, 25-11, 25-23. The matches in the tournament were officiated by the All Manipur Volleyball Association.
In the men's final, jersey no 7 of YMDO (Heirangoithong) K Joyson Singh was named the ‘Best Setter’ while jersey no 2 of KYLSC (Kachikhul) Santa Kumar was named the ‘Best Spiker’. In the women's section, jersey no 11 of ZoWHRO (B team) Chinghauman was named the ‘Best Spiker’ and jersey no 22 of ZYO Tuaitengphai Rose Neinou won the ‘Best Setter/Player Award’.
