‘Zeliangrong community needs good leadership’

Rongmei Baptist Churches Council general secretary Rathaipou Riamei on Tuesday stressed that the Zeliangrong community needs good leadership, and the shaping of a good leader starts within family members, church members, village, community.

He was addressing the 22nd graduation ceremony organised by Immanuel Theological Seminary (ITS) at the new building site, Christian Center Chiuluan in Tamenglong district, Manipur.

He further stated that Immanuel Theological Seminary is a place where church leadership is being shaped and future leaders are moulded. He exhorted the participants, churches in Tamenglong to contribute something to complete the unfinished Immanuel Theological Seminary building to enable the students to sit comfortably during their course.

Rathaipou Riamei said that the present society is facing and indulging in all kinds of drugs while facing their threats from all quarters. The present society requires good leaders who stand up for truth and speak boldly, he added.

A good Christian leader needs the quality of integrity, humility, flexibility, resilience, stewardship, empathy, etc. he said, urging all the graduating students to practice and attain such quality.

Longmai Baptist Church pastor Reverend Ngamdisin Kamei released the Immanuel Theological Seminary (ITS) journal calendar.  

Numbers of awards like academic excellence, principal’s award, best preacher award, hardworking award were given out through different dignitaries.

Academic excellence was bagged by Blessing, principal’s award was received by Khangiuwibou Pamei, best preacher award was adjusted to Giangreiliu Gonmei and M Div Njumlang Newme while hard working award was adjusted to Pouramlung D Riamei and Kaguigailiu Panmei.

The awards and prizes have been instituted by the seminary and sponsored by well-wishers. These awards and prizes will be distributed to the outgoing students.

The Academic Proficiency Award recipients are identified for achieving high grades and superior performance. This award is presented to graduating classes in recognition of his/her Academic proficiency during his/her entire study in the Seminary.

The Academic Proficiency Award was sponsored by the family of P Nehemiah in remembrance of his father late P Meingan who was the first Field Director of Manipur Baptist Association IV (presently known as ZBCCNEI) from 1956-1969 till he laid down his life in the Mission Centre.
