YWC Langthabal enthralled its home crowd beating YPHU Lalambung by 7 wickets in the opening match of the 20th Manipur Veteran Cricket Tournament 2023-24 played at Langthabal Public Ground, Imphal West.
Winning the toss, YWC opted to field first and YPHU in their innings made an impressive start with Kh Hemanta hitting 38 runs off 40 balls while Alai got 37 runs and K Dorendro scored 30 runs, to post 163 runs for 9 wickets from 30 overs.
YWC bowlers L Samananda, G Gojendra claimed 3 wickets each from 6 overs while P.Prakashmani took 1 wicket.
Chasing the target, YWC were put closer to the target by S Kumarjit who made 42 runs off 34 runs and P Prakashmani got 33 runs, to reach it in 28.1 overs for 7 wickets. Samananda and Gojendra hit an identical 19 runs each. YPHU bowler Gyanarnajan took 2 wickets while Jagajit, Gunindro fetched 1 wickets each.
YWC player L Samananda claimed the Man of the Match for his 3 wickets and 19 runs. In tomorrow's match, Napsa Kha Imphal will take on Model Singjamei.
