The Yelhou Mee Kanba Lup (YEMKAL) Manipur on Tuesday urged the authorities concerned to implement the National Register of Citizens (NRC) base year 1951 for the sake of the indigenous people of the state.
I a release, YEMKAL chief convenor Khomdram Ibomcha condemned the prevailing crisis in the state and the threat to the territorial integrity of the state. It alleged that the prevailing crisis in the state was started by non-indigenous Kukis. Only the immediate implementation of NRC base year 1951 can resolve the issue and save the indigenous people of the state, it claimed.
It urged the Union and state government to withdraw the SoO agreement with the Kuki militants, and condemned the reported negligence of the deployed rapid action force during the Kuki militants’ attacks on innocent civilians at the peripheral areas.
It also drew the attention of the 60 MLAs and three MPs of the state for the implementation of the NRC and appealed for the support of all the people of the state in the same.
