Even as thousands thronged the Employment Exchange of Kangpokpi to seek different jobs, a 30-year-old woman set up 'Annie's Cafe' at Nute Kailhang in Kangpokpi town on Friday.

Annie Mimi Guite, who was working as an X-Ray technician at Kangpokpi Christian Hospital left her job to work as a full-time entrepreneur, and opened a food cafe.

The move to entrepreneuship took seed when she started making cakes for various occasions during the COVID-19 lockdown at her house. Later, Annie Mimi set up 'Annie's Cafe' which is her dream,  to encourage an entrepreneurial mindset among the youth of Kangpokpi.

'Annie's Cafe' was inaugurated by Athang Touthang, Senior Pastor, Chongthu Baptist Centre Church Kangpokpi in presence of Kangpokpi Town Committee chairman, Angam Leivon, Kangpokpi Women Welfare Organisations president Hekim Hangshing and representatives of Kangpokpi Youth Union, Senior Citizen members, and others.

Annie's father Haosei Guite pointed out that thousands of youths every year passed various academic examinations from high school leaving certificates to graduate-level examinations and many remained unemployed despite being educated, as it has become impossible for the government to provide jobs to every educated youth.

It has become imperative to encourage the government's initiative of promoting entrepreneurship among the youth for the economic growth of the state and as well as for their self-reliance, he said. He urged community leaders, parents, and educated unemployed youths to promote entrepreneurship in the society.

"I find my happiness in entrepreneurship, not in any other job", said Annie Mimi while urging her fellow educated unemployed youths to build up an entrepreneurial mindset and embark on entrepreneurship rather than completely depending on government jobs.

Annie's Cafe's menu consists of hot and cold beverages, teas, green teas, milkshakes, mock-tails, iced tea of different kinds, pastries, cookies, cheesecakes, pizza slices, burgers, sandwiches, pies, etc. at affordable prices.

KTC, KWWO, and various civil bodies leaders also appreciated Annie Mimi in setting an example for the rest of the educated unemployed youths of the town.
