World Meetei Council refutes

The World Meetei Council (WMC) urged the media to confirm any news related to the council on the website provided to prevent such disinformation campaigns.

The World Meetei Council (WMC) on Wednesday decried the alleged impersonation of WMC by some individuals using its LOGO and old letterhead thereby spreading misinformation to the public and asserted that such is an attempt to defame the council.

WMC secretary general Yambem Arun Meetei; WMC Manipur Unit general secretary K Mohen; president WMC Tripura Unit, Ng Naobi Meetei and general secretary WMC Myanmar Federal Unit, Mukhom SiThuSoe Angomcha, in separate press releases, refuted the claims made by the impersonators which was circulated on various Imphal-based print and electronic media on Tuesday and said that it is not related in any way whatsoever to WMC.

It asserted that WMC chairman Heigrujam Nabashyam will remain as chairman until the general conference scheduled to be conducted in 2027 elects a new chairman for a term of three years.

It added that important information related to WMC are being uploaded at the council’s website ‘www.worldmeeteicouncil.com’.

It urged the media to confirm any news related to the council on the website provided to prevent such disinformation campaigns.
