The World Meetei Council (WMC) has decried the fake news reports about appointment of a new chairman of the council circulated in various Imphal-based Media on Monday.

In a press release on Tuesday, WMC Secretary General Yambem Arun Meetei stated that some individuals are posing as WMC, using its LOGO and old letterhead and frequently spreading misinformation to the public. It then appealed to the people not to believe such fake news.

The council reiterated that important information related to WMC are being uploaded at the council’s website ‘www.worldmeeteicouncil.com’. It urged the media to confirm any news related to the council on the website provided to prevent such disinformation campaigns.
