A release issued by WMC secretary general, Yambem Arun Meetei, lamented over the alleged failure of the chief minister to send the needed two reports till date. He asserted that Meeteis have been demanding ST status since 2012 during the tenure of former chief minister, O Ibobi, all the while alleging that he neglected the demand for over 4 years till 2017.

It further advised the present chief minister to keep in mind that the ST demand made by the Meeteis is solely to safeguard the future identity of the community. It lamented the government for allegedly casting aside the people’s demand for over 12 years now and making such unfounded claims.
