Workshop on international trade held in Moreh

Powerpoint presentations on government legal procedures on IEC holders and other related documentation on ‘Ease of Doing Business’ were a part of the programme

A one-day workshop on international trade organised by Land Custom Station (LCS) Moreh and Imphal Custom (Preventive) Division at the Conference Hall of ICP, Moreh was held at Integrated Check Post (ICP) Moreh on Friday.

Over 70 persons, including staff from different departments took part in the workshop.

The workshop began with SP LCS Moreh SK Gangte, highlighting the programme and manager ICP T Baite giving a welcome address to all the participants.

Commissioner of Customs (Prev), NER, Shillong, GM Kamei, IRS gave a speech on International trade.

He spoke on how traders can perform a good import/export trade through proper channels by Import Export Code (IEC). But most traders from this border town are not doing proper channelled business which may be due to lack of awareness on IEC or other proper government procedures, he said.

Powerpoint presentations on government legal procedures on IEC holders and other related documentation on ‘Ease of Doing Business’ were also a part of the programme. He appealed to the IEC holder traders to start Import Export Business through LCS.

Superintendent (Tech), customs (Prev.), NER, Shillong Hauzel Daniel gave a presentation on Customs Import/Export Procedure (Overview); superintendent, ICD Amingaon, Guwahati Customs Division on ICES/EDI System Nobin Chandra Singh and dy Manager (forex) SBI, Main Branch, Imphal Oinam Sarita gave a speech on Role of Banks - FOREX/Financial systems in Import -Export.

Assistant commissioner Imphal Customs Division L Songate led the interactive session where the above officers cleared the doubts and queries of the participants.

In the interactive session, General Secretary Border Trade and Chambers of Commerce Moreh requested for the appointment of Custom House Agent, upgrading of Banking facilities and internet facility for the proper functioning of Import Export trade in this border town.

Members from Border Trade and Chambers of Commerce Moreh, Inpi Chamber of Commerce and various traders from the border town attended the workshop.
