Speaking to media at the Manipur Press Club in Imphal, president of the committee Thokchom Sanjoy stated that the stationing of the BSF near Purum Kuki village was strategic in suppressing flare-ups between the two communities.

"They are protecting villages in Dolaithabi, Leitanpokpi, Pukhao and Makeng. If they are removed, it will lead to serious security problems," he said.

As such, he urged authorities concerned to stop such measures and cautioned that Imphal-Pukhao road would be shut down indefinitely if authorities disregarded the people's wishes.
