Will not remain silent over PwD rights: UCM

UCM said it will stand against those who try to defy PwD rights

The United Committee Manipur (UCM) will not remain a silent spectator if any individual or groups try to challenge the rights of the PwD and take advantage from their rightful shares and schemes introduced by the government, said UCM president Joychandra Konthoujam on Thursday.

He was speaking during a distribution of assistance for differently able cum awareness programmes organised by the UCM under the aegis of Composite Regional Centre for skill Development, Rehabilitation and Empowerment (CRCSRE) at Western development Youth Club in Imphal West.

Stressing the need to give equal emphasis and importance to the PwD in the ideology of an egalitarian society, he appealed to the authorities of all the educational institutes to procure the needed learning equipment and assistive devices for PwD to ensure that all the PwD are welcome.

He further stressed the need of a separate institution for PwD to inculcate the easiest means while performing their day-to-day activities.

The programme was also attended by officer in-charge of CRCSRE Ksh Ramesgwori; charaman of UCM Lamsang Unit Laishram Victoria; extension officer of Social Welfare L Bobo and prosthetic and orthotics consultant of CRCSRE P Lenin as presidium members.
