In connection with the death of one Warepam Premjit, 23, son of Abhiram from Papal Mayai Leikai in Thoubal district whose body was found at a roadside on Monday, a joint action committee called ‘JAC against the brutal killing of Warepam Premjit Singh’ was formed on Tuesday.
Warepam Premjit was found dead in a suspicious manner by locals on a roadside near Khongjao which is situated in between Lousipat and Sora under Kakching Police Station.
The JAC has submitted a memorandum to Chief Minister N Biren Singh and MLA of Wangjing Tentha, demanding the authorities concerned to bring justice to the alleged killing and give appropriate punishments to the culprits involved.
It demanded the authorities concerned to take up action against the culprits by June 15, failing which the JAC will launch an intensified stir.

The JAC along with women of Papal of Thoubal district blocked the Papal Lamkhai part of the National Highway 102 connecting Imphal to Moreh, in protest against the alleged killing of Warepam Premjit.
Speaking at the event, convenor of the JAC N Tiken said that Premjit had gone out from his home to work at a two wheeler workshop at 7 am on Sunday. But he was later found dead in a suspicious manner the next day, he added.
The JAC has resolved that until the authorities concerned bring justice to the alleged killing, the body of Premjit will not be collected by the bereaved family. He urged the state government to provide compensation to Premjit’s bereaved family, including his wife and eight-year-old son.

He cautioned that if the authorities failed to meet with the demands by June 15, the JAC along with concerned CSOs, Meira Paibis and the locals would launch strong protest movements.
Meanwhile, condemning the death of Premjit, people of Papal Mayai Leikai demonstrated a sit-in protest at Keithel Macha of Papal Mayai Leikai.
Speaking at the event, the wife of late Premjit urged the authorities concerned to bring justice to her late husband. She questioned what Premjit had done to be murdered so mercilessly.
