War on Drugs: Another village chief arrested in Chandel

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in a Facebook post, said that the village chief of Chahnoujang village, Thongkholet Haokip, was hiding in Churachandpur district since December, 2022.

In continuation of the Manipur government's War on Drugs initiative, another village chief was on Monday arrested in Chandel district.

Chief Minister N Biren Singh, in a Facebook post, said that the village chief of Chahnoujang village, Thongkholet Haokip @Max (41) s/o Doukhose, has been arrested by Chandel SP team.

In his Facebook post, the chief minister said that the village chief was hiding in Churachandpur district since December, 2022.

"WAR ON DRUGS 2-0  ANOTHER VILLAGE CHIEF ARRESTED Thongkholet Haokip @  Max (41) s/o Doukhosei, Chief of New Chahnoujang Village. CHANDEL DISTRICT Ref: Case FIR No.24(12) 2022 CKG-PS U/S 18(b)/27(A)/28/29/30 NDPS Act. He was hiding IN CCPUR SINCE DECEMBER. Well done Chandel SP team," CM Biren posted on Facebook.

At least seven village chiefs, including two from Churachandpur, four from Kangpokpi and one from Chandel, have so far been arrested in connection with the poppy cultivation case in Manipur.
