One accused person under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, 2012 was arrested on Tuesday by a team of Churachandpur Women Police led by OC Chinneihlam Gangte under the supervision of additional SP (IUCAW) Hasby Haokip.

According to police, the arrest was made based on a request received from Mizoram police on October 28. The accused Lalremthang Sonate of Ngurte, Churachandpur district, is a wanted person and a case has been registered at Sangau Police Station under case no. 5/2021 u/s 6 POCSO Act in Lawngtlai district, Mizoram.

The accused is said to be the principal of Salom English Academy, Bualpui 'NG' village, Lawngtlai, Mizoram, the police added.

A team of Mizoram police also arrived and obtained a transit remand from the court. After observing all formalities, the accused person was taken to Mizoram for further necessary legal action, said the police.
