The Manipur legislators’ visit to Delhi seems to be fruitful as Union Home Minister Amit Shah has called for an all-party meeting on June 24 to discuss the situation in Manipur, Sagolband MLA Rk Imo said.
A release issued by the PRO to the Sagolband MLA stated that the MLAs of Manipur have met union defence minister and union finance minister along with Sambit Patra and BL Santosh and apprised them of the current situation in Manipur. They also urged for stringent measures to ensure peace and normalcy prevail in the state at the earliest, it continued.
It is pertinent to mention that major points and issues were discussed in the memorandum submitted to the central leaders, including protection of the territorial integrity of the state, withdrawal of SoO against insurgent groups operating in the state, stringent measures against these armed insurgent groups including foreign militia, stopping of violence in peripheral areas to bring peace in the state, the opening of national highway 2 on priority, it informed.
The delegation of MLAs belonging to different political parties were assured of certain measures which would be initiated for the betterment of the people of the state, it mentioned. The MLAs of Manipur are working together for the restoration of peace and normalcy in the state, it added.
