Village authority aggrieved by news, clarifies

The Vakho village authority said the news item has “greatly tarnished the name of the village".

The Office of the Vakho/Khabung Karong Village Authority on Thursday expressed condemnations against a news item published by a local daily in connection with the mysterious death of Ak Nonganba.

The Vakho village authority condemned the report which mentioned that the accused person, Moses Gonmei’s residence is Vakho, stated a release. The news item has “greatly tarnished the name of our village,” it stated.

It further clarified that there is no one named Moses Gonmei, 42, from Vakho village in Senapati district. The Vakho village authority in particular and the villagers in general are deeply hurt with the “false report,” it added.

It may be mentioned that the local daily had also issued a corrigendum, stating that the location of the arrest mentioned in the news item “is to be read as Katomei Namgailong Village in Senapati district.”
