VDVKS advocacy programme held

The Van Dhan Vikas Kendras/Karyakram is a Government of India initiative. It is targeted towards improving the livelihood of the tribal population.

Tamenglong Forest department on Friday organised an advocacy programme of VDVKS (Van Dhan Vikas Kendra) for Keikao VDVK at UBC Community Hall, Tamenglong district headquarters.

The programme was attended by ADM Tamenglong Chunglenmang Kipgen and DFO Tamenglong Kh Hitler Singh as chief guest and president of the function respectively. Joel Gangmei RFO Tamenglong spoke as resource persons for the advocacy programme.

In his chief guest speech, chief guest Chunglenmang Kipgen advised the Self Help Group members to sincerely carry out the responsibility of helping themselves with the help extended by the Forest department.

In the presidential address Kh Hitler Singh also requested to learn new skills for value addition to the agro-forestry products such as ginger, garlic, bamboo shoots, king chilly, amla etc for export to even to foreign countries. He gave his assurance of extending further help in training for packaging and marketing.

The Van Dhan Vikas Kendras/Karyakram is a Government of India initiative. It is targeted towards improving the livelihood of the tribal population.

The focus and objective of the initiative is to harness the wealth of the forest for the benefit of society as a whole and also to the tribal population in particular.

VDVKS is a joint effort of Tribal Cooperative Marketing Development Federation of India (TRIFED) and the Government of India.
