Uripok assembly constituency MLA Khwairakpam Raghumani Singh on Sunday launched ‘Uripok MLA Ambulance Service’ with ambulances equipped with medical accessories like Oxygen cylinders at his residence.
Addressing the media on the sidelines of the event , Raghumani said that the newly launched ambulance service will be operated by the Shemlasi Uripok Medical Team only during the day time. After three months, its services will be extended during the night time, he said.
He mentioned that the service can be availed by people residing in Uripok assembly constituency at a minimal charge of only Rs 50. The charges will be deposited to the Shemlasi Uripok Medical Team for their service, he said. Anybody who wants to access the service can contact through the provided phone number 9362084113, it added.
Citing the reason for launching the ambulance service, he mentioned that the heavy traffic density in the Imphal area can be problematic particularly when patients are being transported on personal vehicles.
With an ambulance, a patient in need of emergency care stands a better chance of receiving speedier medical care, he further said.
Private ambulances can often charge between Rs 1,500 to Rs 2,000 which could be a big burden for families with limited resources. However, with the launch of this service, such problems would be addressed to some extent, he added.
On witnessing numerous initiatives in healthcare like PMJAY Ayushman Bharat Health Card which provides free medical care up to Rs 5 lakh and Chief Ministergi Hakshel gi Tengbang by state government inspired him to take up steps in providing health care services in the assembly constituency.
