Union Minister of State, Education Subhas Sarkar has assured that he will consult with the ministry concerned concerning the proposal for expansion of Manipur University campus.
He was speaking to the media on the last day of his visit to Manipur at Thambal Shanglen located at Nityaipat Chuthek, Imphal on Tuesday.
Subhas said Manipur University has over 6,000 students and a significant number of affiliated colleges. The proposal for extension of Manipur University campus is legitimate as more infrastructure and adequate land are needed for becoming a Central university, he said.
He said Manipur University should send a soft reminder to the ministry concerned and he would discuss the matter with the ministry in a positive manner.
During an interaction with the beneficiaries of government schemes and policies, Subhas expressed satisfaction that the beneficiaries are well connected with the government.
After the press conference, he later departed Imphal from Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.
