Manipur’s Bharatiya Janata Party manifesto shows consideration for every section of the people, including fishermen, and people in Manipur could avail more benefits if the BJP is voted back to power in the state, Union Women and Child Development Minister Smriti Zubin Irani said in Imphal Friday.
The Union minister was addressing a one-day political meeting cum flag hoisting ceremony of state Education Minister S Rajen Singh held at the Eco Park, Salam, Imphal West district on Friday.
Highlighting several major points in the BJP manifesto, which was released by party national president JP Nadda on Thursday, Smriti Irani said the BJP not only considers the state’s welfare but also the welfare of people living below poverty line, including fishermen.
If voted back to power for a second term, the BJP government would increase financial assistance of PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana for farmers from Rs 6,000 to Rs 8,000 and free accident insurance cover up to Rs 5 lakh to all fishermen in Manipur. And two free LPG gas cylinders each would be provided to all the PM Ujjwala beneficiaries in the state, she said.
The minister also said that establishment of a Manipur Skill University for skilling the youths in the state in various sectors could reduce the issue of unemployment among educated youths. The BJP promises to provide free scooty to all meritorious college going girls and free laptops to the meritorious students passing class 12 to support their higher education, she said.
She also lauded Chief Minister N Biren Singh as the pride of BJP.
The chief minister also spoke on the occasion and said Congress leader Rahul Gandhi should be boycotted in the entire Manipur. He then said that with the coming of the BJP-led government in Manipur, law and order in the state has improved compared to the previous government tenure. Before the coming of the BJP government, many innocent people were victimised under the AFSPA, but the situation today is better.
Biren also said that sincerity and politeness is necessary in politics and false promises cannot be made in politics. If the BJP government continues in the new government then the promises made by the party which are highlighted in the manifesto will be fulfilled, including an increase of Rs 2 lakh from CMHT to Rs 5 lakh, he added.
The chief minister further said that with a coalition government, the state could not provide good governance as people have witnessed in the last five years. Some of the MLAs and ministers from other coalition parties created issues in the government which will be solved by the BJP winning an absolute majority in the coming Assembly elections, Biren added.
