A delegation of Peace Committee of the United Naga Council (UNC), Manipur called on Governor Anusuiya Uikey at Raj Bhavan in Imphal on May 11.
The delegation thanked the governor for her initiative in directing the concerned authorities to take appropriate steps to contain the violence and not to indulge in any violent activities and to restore peace and normalcy in the wake of the recent violence that broke out in Manipur between two communities.
The committee also showed their interest to work for restoring peace and normalcy in the state and to support the government in bringing back normalcy thereby maintaining brotherhood among the communities in the state.
In a release, the governor also appealed the delegation to negotiate with the people of the two communities for peace so that people can avoid violence and peace and tranquility will prevail in the state.
