UG sympathisers apprehended in Imphal West

Three over ground workers of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA) were apprehended from Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai in Imphal West.

A joint team of Thoubal commando and 16 Assam Rifles on Saturday apprehended three over ground workers of the proscribed People’s Liberation Army (PLA) from Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai in Imphal West.

According to police, a joint team of Thoubal commando and 16 AR led by additional SP Ops, Thoubal O Wangkhomba and Thoubal OC inspector K Nitaranjan Singh under the supervision of Jogeshchandra Haobijam apprehended three overground workers of the proscribed PLA from Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai.

The apprehended persons were identified as Ayekpam Abi Singh alias Rabi, 40, and Ayekpam Kumarjit Singh, 46, sons of A Ibomcha Singh from Kakwa Nameirakpam Leikai Beni Leirak along with one Konjengbam Abinash Singh alias Ibungo, 24, son of K Inaocha Singh from Lairenjam Awang Leikai, it added.

The team seized one mobile phone from Abinash’s possession and one Chinese hand grenade and one mobile phone from the possession of Abi along with one Beretta 9 mm pistol with two magazines, one Chinese hand grenade and one mobile phone from Kumarjit’s possession, it mentioned.

It continued that the apprehended persons disclosed that they were working under the command of Ayekpam Dhamen Singh alias Brojen alias Thwanjao who is the elder brother of Abi and Kumarjit and is also a self-titled major of PLA. The arrested persons along with the seized items were handed over to Singjamei police station for further necessary actions, it added.
