A combined team of 20th Assam Rifle troops and Khabeisoi special commando (CDO) unit Khabeisoi apprehended a cadre of the proscribed Revolutionary People's Front, People's Liberation Army (RPF/PLA) at Kotha Lamkhai, Tengnoupal around 5 pm on Saturday.
According to sources, based on an input, a combined team of 20th Assam Rifle troops and special commando unit, Khabeisoi under the supervision of Railway SP and the in-charge of the CDO unit Th Krishnatombi Singh conducted frisking and checking at Kotha Lamkhai.
It stated that the team reportedly detained one person who was walking on foot in a suspicious manner. On verification he was identified as Ningombam Yaimongba Singh alias Pumba alias Engel, 34, son of N Ibotombi Singh from Khongman Mayai Leikai, Imphal East, it mentioned.
It maintained that on further verification, the detainee revealed that he was an active member of the proscribed RPF/PLA and that he joined the organisation in 2003 through one Naoba Singh from Jiribam who was the director of Minority Affairs of the organisation.
Yaimongba also stated that he was working under the command of secretary of Minority Affairs leituenant colonel Amuchou from Kakching Khunou and he got basic military training at Sajik Tampak with his PLA MC no. 285, Army no. 2588 and the rank of a captain, it continued.
He further disclosed that he took shelter at Myanmar legit camp of RPF/PLA, adding that he came out from the unit camp to watch the movement of the security forces at the border region including the road of the Kotha area, it stated. The team arrested him at the spot around 5.30 pm and handed him over to Moreh police for further necessary legal actions, it added.
