UG cadre arrested in Senapati district

An active member of a rebel outfit arrested along with the arms seizures were handed over to Loktak police station

A combined team of district commando, Bishnupur and a column of 10 Assam Rifles arrested an active cadre of KNF (Nehlun) faction along with arms and ammunition from Laimaton area, Senapati district at around 6 pm on Saturday, sources said.

According to the police, the arrested person has been identified as Johnny Kongshai, 23, son of Seilun Khongshai of Motbung village, Kangpokpi district.

Police said acting on a reliable information about the movement of some hill-based underground groups in and around Laimaton area, the combined team led by head constable, commando, Bishnupur, O Jayenta assisted by havildar, A Johnson Singh and a column of 10 Assam Rifles under the overall guidance of superintendent of police, Bishnupur rushed to the said area.

The combined team conducted frisking and checking in the said area and during their action, Johnny was arrested along with one 9 mm pistol and a magazine with three live rounds. The person was arrested and arm and ammunition seized from his possession.

Later, the arrested person along with the seizures were handed over to Loktak police station for further necessary legal action.
