A team of district commandos, Bishnupur, arrested an active cadre of an underground outfit of KCP (MC) and seized arms and ammunition from his possession on Thursday.
The arrested person has been identified as Tongminthang Haokip alias Thangboi alias Chingsang, 32, son of late Hemkhomang Haokip of Kotlen Village, Kangpokpi district, police said.
Police reported that an information was received from 16 Assam Rifles and corroborated from police source at around 1.30 pm about movement of some valley based underground cadres in and around Pheidinga, Imphal West near stone crusher for their prejudicial activities.
Acting on the information, the commando team, under the supervision of additional superintendent of police (Ops), Bishnupur district, Roni Mayengbam and under overall supervision of senior superintendent of police, Bishnupur, N Herojit Meeitei, immediately rushed to the area after informing the authority concerned.
After reaching the said area, the team detained Tongminthang and on body search of the detainee, one 7.65 mm pistol marked as ITALY 7.65 No 9585 having one magazine loaded with six live rounds of 7.65 mm ammunition was found from his possession.
On further verification, he disclosed that he is an active cadre of KCP (MC Unification) and joined the outfit in November 2019 through one Kiran of the same outfit. Presently, he is working under Kiran and one Tachou of the same outfit.
He further disclosed that in the year 2004 he had joined PREPAK (PRO) and got basic military training of 45 days at Sajik Tampak with allotted Army No 15475.
So, he was arrested at 4.10 pm and seized the recovered items by observing proper formalities.
The arrested person along with the seized items were handed over to Sekmai police station for further necessary legal action.
