Two thieves rounded up at Ima market

The two thieves who were apprehended on Thursday seemed to be drug users and appeared to be under the influence of drugs at the time of being caught, sources said.

Volunteers of Kanglei Economic Development Organisation (KEDO) caught two thieves red handed while they were trying to steal belongings of the vendors of Keithel number 2 (Imoinu Ima Keithel), Khwairamband Ima Market on Thursday.

The thieves have been identified as one Lourembam Manichandra, 37, son of L Amu from Heirangoithong Maibam Leikai, Imphal West and Tongbram Budhichandra, son of Tongbram Angou from Takyel Kolom Leikai, Imphal West.

Sources said that two more drug users were also apprehended earlier on Wednesday by the volunteers of KEDO, and they were handed over to City police.

After the volunteers of KEDO and Khwairamband women vendors gave counselling to the apprehended drug users, they were handed over to City police for further necessary action.
