Two active cadres of the proscribed underground organisation RPF/PLA were arrested at two different places, in Imphal East and Imphal West, on Tuesday, sources said.
A combined team of state special commando unit and a column of 15 Assam Rifles apprehended one active cadre of proscribed underground organisation RPF/PLA at Lamlong Khurai area at around 11 am.
The apprehended person had been identified as one Wangkheimayum Bobby Meitei, 41, son of W Sarat Meitei of Wankhei Hijam Leikai, Imphal East, police said.
Police said the combined team under the supervision of superintendent of police, special commando unit, Th Krishnatombi apprehended Bobby from Lamlong area near Babu Hotel, Imphal East.
On questioning, Bobby revealed that he was working under the command of one Jibon Singh who is the finance-in-charge and one Suresh Bhaiya Singh, in-charge of the said proscribed underground organisation. He further revealed that he was given the task to collect funds and monetary demands from government offices, as per police.
One mobile handset was also seized from his possession.
A case has been registered at the police station concerned for further necessary legal action.
Meanwhile, at about 1 pm of the same day a team of commando, Imphal West also arrested one active cadre of the same proscribed underground organisation from Keishampat Thouda Bhabok Leikai, Imphal West near Sangai Express office.
The arrested person has been identified as one Chingsubam Salaingamba alias Araba Meitei, 43, son of late Ch Binodkumar Meitei of Khurai Soibam Leikai Meri Leirak, Imphal East.
Salaingamba disclosed that he joined the organisation in May, 2010 through one Dilip of Soibam Leikai and got his basic training at Laijik Camp, Myanmar under the command of self styled major of the same organisation, Loijing.
Further, he disclosed that he was presently holding the rank of self styled sergeant major and working under the command of self styled lieutenant, Pamel alias Pamcha of Lairikyengbam Leikai presently staying at Laijik Vamp, Myanmar.
He revealed that he extorted huge amounts of money from many businessmen on the advice of his commander. One mobile handset, one Aadhaar card and one Honda Activa (scooter) without registration number were seized from his possession.
The arrested person along with the seized items has been handed over to Imphal police station for further investigation.
