Two arrested, drugs worth Rs 7.6 lakh seized in Churachandpur

Police found 6.285 kg of opium and Rs 2.6 lakh in cash from a vehicle, and another another 970 grams of opium along with Rs 5 lakh in cash were found at a house of one arrested person in Churachandpur.

Drugs worth Rs 7.6 lakh were seized while two persons were arrested by Churachandpur police on Friday.

Around 4.30 pm on Friday, police received information that a four wheeler vehicle (Bolero bearing registration no MN01AK – 2365) was transporting opium in Churachandpur. The vehicle was intercepted in front of Churachandpur police station.

On checking of the vehicle, police found 6.285 kg of opium and Rs 2.6 lakh in cash. Two persons who were riding the vehicle, namely Seikhohau Guite, 40, son of Hemlun Guite resident of V Munhoih village, New Lamka and Hoikim Suante ,40, wife of (L) Ngaipu Suante of Pangzawl Village ,Thingkangphai, both from Churachandpur were arrested.

As a follow up action, another 970 grams of opium along with Rs 5 lakh in cash were found at the house of accused Hoikim Suante. An FIR No 54(04)2022 under section 18 (b) /29 ND & PS has been filed by Churachandpur police. Investigations are being undertaken.
