Two persons were arrested and 1.082 kilogram brown sugar worth around Rs 21,640,000 were seized by team B of narcotic cell of Tengnoupal police station on Sunday.
The arrested persons have been identified as one K Samuel, 22, son of Thanglam of Tuibong, Churachandpur district and Nianghoihsiam, 22, daughter of Kapginthang of New Zouveng, Churachandpur district.
The narcotic team led by 2nd officer-in-charge, Thoubal police, sub-inspector, Ashem Biren Singh during random frisking and checking detained one Bolero. On examination, 25 soap cases of suspected brown sugar were detected from the possession of the arrested persons.
A case has been registered and the arrested persons along with the seizures have been handed over to Thoubal district police.
Police said it is the 11th seizure of drugs by Thoubal police since March 25 and till date drugs worth Rs 54.81 crore have been seized.
