A team of Khongjom Police under SP Thoubal Jogeshchandra Haobijam along with the members of Join Co- Ordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB) Manipur seized a mini tata loaded with red soil on Sunday at around 8.30 am
The joint team rushed to the spot after receiving information that a mini tata was illegally loading red soil. The mini tata, bearing registration number MZ01K- 5022, was seized while loading red soil from Tentha hill, Thoubal district under the jurisdiction of Thoubal District.
As per the sources, four other vehicles and a JCB fled the scene on hearing the arrival of police. The seized vehicle has been handed over to the forest staff to take up legal action.
JCCWB convenor, Romesh Ningthoujam said that numerous cases of the same incident have been encountered and has been arrested but still continues till date.
He appealed to the authorities concerned of the government and the forest department to look into the matter to save nature.
