The Federation of Civil Society Organisations (FOCS) on Thursday paid tributes to those who lost their lives defending their villages and the state’s integrity in the ethnic violence that broke out in the state on May 3.
FOCS, in a release, also prayed for the departed souls to rest peacefully in the heavenly abode and also shared grief of the bereaved family members. It expressed discontentment over the alleged failure of the Central and state governments to take swift actions in resolving the issue even as the ethnic conflict crossed 40 days.
It pointed out that many innocent civilians of the Meitei community have been mercilessly killed by suspected Kuki militants and questioned whether all of it is a secret agenda of the government to wipe out the Meitei community.
The central government has the power to control and contain the Kuki militants under SoO, it claimed. FOCS further lambasted the Indian Army for allegedly failing to take all out steps to quell the violence in the state.
