Training on Organic and Natural Farming held in Senapati

The two-day training was conducted for extension officers’ programme on “Organic & Natural Farming”.

A two-day Training on Organic and Natural Farming was conducted by RCONF and ICCOA with the primary imperative to help and better facilitate the rural farmers in Senapati district under agriculture and horticulture sectors, the Regional Centre for Organic & Natural Farming, Imphal – Government of India (RCONF).

The training was organised in collaboration with International Competence Centre for Organic Agriculture (ICCOA) and supported by Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA) at the DRDA Conference Hall, Senapati District, Manipur on the 09th & 10th March, 2023.

The two-day training was conducted for extension officers’ programme on “Organic & Natural Farming”.

The training was attended by three active farmer producers’ companies of Senapati District, viz. Curcuma Green Hills Organic Farmer Producer Company Limited, Jeweled Land Organic Farmer Producer Company Limited and Lilikoi Organic Farmer Producer Company Limited.

The training was facilitated by RSH Srivathsa, Assistant Director, RCONF, Imphal.

Resource persons included LS James Lavei, Extension Officer, Agriculture; David Kamei, Scientist (Soil Science), Subject Matter Specialist, KVK, Senapati District and Jayant Raman, Scientific Officer, RCONF.

The principle of the training is to nurture and guide the farmers on “Organic and Natural farming” in their farming activities, train them on how to diversify sources of rural economy and promote rural-based agripreneurs by pulling together progressive farmers in the region of Senapati district, Manipur. The training is also aimed at promoting the rural farming communities, adding value to their production, imparting capacity-building mechanisms and creating an adequate marketing system for their products. Above all, the motive is to uphold the interest of the farmers by inculcating holistic farming for rural development and a sustainable economy.
