Training cum Production on Manipuri Folk Dance concluded

As many as 15 participants, mainly girls, took part in the training programme.

The closing programme of Training cum Production on Manipuri Folk Dance which was held from March 10 to 31 was held at Top Siphai Community Hall, Imphal West on Sunday.

The programme was organised by Royal Artiste Academy for Cultural Heritage (RAACHI) and  conducted under the Cultural Function and Production Grant scheme sponsored by the Union Ministry of Culture.

Speaking on the occasion, RAACHI secretary Tekcham Tekchamba stated that the 22-day programme had been organised to inculcate good moral character and cultural values among the people especially the youths.

“Art and culture is the essence of the Manipuri society and as such, we organised the event to impart proper cultural knowledge,” he said.

He noted that as many as 15 participants, mainly girls, took part in the training programme and that basic training on Manipuri folk dance and songs were conducted during the training programme.

We also hope to continue the programme for male participants in the future as well, he added.

He further stated that such programmes were important in the present age as people have strayed from various intrinsic cultural practices which could be detrimental to the existence of the Manipuri culture.

Participants of the training programme also performed various dance pieces during the closing function.
Founder of Deepti Academy  Doren Khaba Nganba, associate professor of Mayai Lambi College Yumnam Nimai, RAACH president Leiphrakpam Tombi among others were present at the event.
