For the ninth time since the crisis brought out in Manipur, a goods train with 10 wagons arrived at Khongsang Railway Station on Sunday evening with perishable items such as onion and potato.
Notably, this is the 9th goods train that has arrived in the state since the crisis erupted in the state on May 3, 2023. The first goods train to arrive in Manipur at Khongshang was on July 24, 2023 which was welcomed by Chief Minister N Biren Singh along with other officials.
On Sunday, CM Biren posted a video of the goods train arriving at Khongshang on his official Facebook stating thus, “9th Goods train ,within this ten months with 10 wagons arrived at Khongshang today evening carrying perishable items Onion and potato etc.”
A narration in the video stated that the goods train arrived in the state following the initiative of the state government and the centre following the ongoing crisis so that the people do not run short of essential commodities. However, the voice also stated that only ‘onions and potatoes’ have arrived this time.
Stating that there are 10 wagons, the voice states that it totals to 450 metric tonnes.
As per the video, the onions and potatoes are brought from different parts of the country.
