Traffic Woes in Imphal: Remove structures within 10 days, says PWD

The Public Works Department (PWD) has notified the public in Imphal City to remove all encroached structures and stacked materials by July 6.

As a part of the activities taken up by the government to ease traffic congestion in the Imphal City area, the Public Works Department (PWD) has notified the public to remove all encroached structures and stacked materials by July 6.

The notification issued by Public Works Department on Monday, signed by executive engineer, Imphal West division, PWD stated that there are several unauthorised constructions and extension shops, railings, balconies, verandahs, stairs, ramp encroaching along the road side, footpath and drain including stacking of construction materials, debris and others.

These unauthorised encroachments have been causing inconvenience and disturbances to the commuters with frequent traffic congestions and unavailability of parking area, it stated.

It informed all the concerned residing along Thangmeiband Road (Khoyathong junction to New Assembly), Youth Centre Leirak, Thangmeiband, Hijam Dewan Leikai, Chingakham Lampak to Lamphel Supermarket, Watham Leirak to Lairenhanjaba Leirak, Nagamapal to PHYLO; Road opposite DM College NCC office, Kangjabi Leirak, RIMS traffic Rotary to Lamphel Sanakeithel and Lamphel SuperMarket to remove all encroached structures and stacked materials within 10 days from Monday.
