Tongjel Maril Road: Chakka bandh suspended

The chakka bandh, which was implemented from July 25, was suspended following an assurance given by the Works Minister and the chairman of Hills Areas Committee (HAC) to start the repairing works instantly, said secretary general of RNYOM Ripeilan Pamei.

The Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) and the National Highway Surveillance Committee (NHSC) on Wednesday suspended its chakka bandh called along the Tongjel Maril Road (Old Cachar Road) as a stir demanding repairing of the road.

The chakka bandh, which was implemented from July 25, was suspended following an assurance given by the Works Minister and the chairman of Hills Areas Committee (HAC) to start the repairing works instantly, said secretary general of RNYOM Ripeilan Pamei while speaking to the media at Manipur Press Club in Imphal.

Informing that representatives of the two organisations will be meeting with the Works Minister and the chairman of Hills Areas Committee on August 20, he said that as per the outcome of the meeting the organisation will announce whether they will resume the bandh or not.
