In a historic alliance aimed at reshaping Manipur’s political landscape, the Naga People’s Front (NPF), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and National People’s Party (NPP) have come together to launch their election campaign.

The coalition is rallying behind the NDA’s consensus candidate, K Timothy Zimik of the NPF, for Manipur’s II-Outer Parliamentary Constituency in the upcoming 18th Lok Sabha Election.

The campaign commenced with a grand event at New Canaan Village in Ukhrul district. This marks a significant milestone as it is the first official election campaign kick-off in Manipur for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Addressing the enthusiastic gathering, K Timothy Zimik articulated his vision and commitment to the people of Manipur. “Our primary needs in Manipur are peace and development. It is imperative that we foster mutual respect and sincerity among all communities to address our challenges. I am steadfastly committed to restoring peace in our state,” he declared.

Zimik emphasised the importance of unity and inclusivity in driving prosperity. “We must work collectively, transcending community barriers, to usher in inclusive development and shared prosperity. To achieve a vibrant Manipur, we need both social justice and economic upliftment across the hills and the valley,” he asserted.

Acknowledging the divisions that have plagued Manipuri society, he highlighted the need for dialogue and mutual understanding.

“For too long, we have allowed ideological, ethnic, and political differences to divide us. As your representative, I am here to bridge these divides and champion the interests of all,” he affirmed.

Speaking directly to those who have felt marginalised, Zimik empathised that he is not here for personal gain but to be your voice in the Lok Sabha.

“I am not just an NPF candidate but a Naga consensus candidate supported by BJP and NPP under the NDA alliance. I urge all constituents, irrespective of party affiliations, to cast their valuable votes in my favor,” he said.

In a rallying call to the people of Manipur, Zimik expressed his optimism for a united future. “The valley and hill people of Manipur, working hand in hand, can usher in transformative changes. It is time for all communities to coexist peacefully with mutual respect and understanding,” he proclaimed.

“With your support and trust, I pledge to improve your social and economic conditions and ensure good governance. Let’s seize this moment and work together to overcome challenges and secure a resounding victory in the upcoming election,” he concluded.

The programme also witnessed the presence of leaders from the three parties including, Minister S Ranjan (BJP), Minister Awangbow Newmai (NPF), general secretary of NPF Central Office and MLA of Nagaland Achumbemo Kikon, president (in-charge) Manipur of NPP Janghemlung Panmei and other MLAs.
