Political activist Sapamcha Kangleipal on Friday asserted that the time has passed for people to wait on state authorities to douse the conflict.

“It is time for the people to come out and do what is needed. The shortage of people on the frontline is the biggest issue we are facing,” he said.

Speaking to the media at the Manipur Press Club, Imphal, he called upon the people to physically and mentally prepare to take the frontline.

He stated that the village volunteers on the frontline are not well trained soldiers but common villagers risking their lives to protect their motherland.

They are not fighting a lone battle, he added.

He maintained that the inability to end the long drawn crisis was a mixture of the government’s and shortage of people on the frontline.

“Now is not the time for an inferiority complex but to take up arms and fight the foreign invader,” he said.

He stated that it was time for the people to follow in the footsteps of the forefathers as the conflict is raging out of control.

“I will fight alongside our warriors on the frontline. We must not falter to divisive tactics to divert the issue at hand,” he said.
