Three more PLA cadres arrested at Jangnoi village in Tengnoupal district

Three PLA cadres were arrested by a joint team of the Five Assam Rifles and Moreh Police commando from Jangnoi village in Tengnoupal district, Manipur.

A joint team of Moreh Battalion Assam Rifles and Moreh police commando has arested three more cadres of the People Liberation Army (PLA), a valley based militant group near India-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district, Manipur on Friday.

The apprehended PLA cadres have been identified as one Meisnam Malemthoiba Singha alias Malemnganba, 18, son of M Mani Kumar from Cachar Kamranga Part-1 Cachar; Leihaothabam Thoiba sharma alias Tiken ,21, son of L Meiraba from Kaphei Lungchang village in Chandel District; Thokchom Tamthouba alias Diamond Meitei, 23, son of Th Britain from Serou Bazar Awang leikai in Kakching district, as per sources.

Malemthoiba joined the militant group through one Sanathoi of Jirighat and trained at Ango general headquarters under Army No 3,338 of April 2022 batch, the sources said.

Tiken joined PLA through one self styled lieutenant Shanta and trained at Ango general headquarters under army No 3339, 2022 batch, it mentioned.

Diamond joined the PLA through one Pheiroijam Joykumar of Serou Bazar and trained at Ango (GHQ) under army No 3340 of 2022, it added.

They were apprehended with one AK series rifle with one magazine, two .32 pistols with two magazines, four rounds of AK rifle, and 10 rounds of.32 pistol.

According to a report, the joint team of the Five Assam Rifles and Moreh police commando laid an ambush in the general area of Jangnoi village and B Bongyang village, following a tip-off about the movement of PLA cadres from Myanmar to carry out sabotage activities against the Indian Security Forces between Border Pillar No 79 and 81.

Around 3 am of September 9, the joint team intercepted the three PLA cadres in the general area of Jangnoi village near the India-Myanmar border. On being challenged, the trio tried to hide and take cover. The joint team immediately cordoned off the area and apprehended them.
