Three Manipur scientists nominated

A 12-membered team of Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) to visit Manipur from June 9-12 to assess the situations.

The Indian Council of Agricultural Research North-Eastern Hill Region Research Complex, Manipur Centre, Imphal has nominated three scientists for interaction and discussion with the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) related to the recent natural calamities in the state due to the cyclonic storm ‘Remal’.

Head of Regional Centre Ramgopal Laha in a notice on Friday informed that the three scientists are principal scientist (Fishery) Chanamthabam Basudha Devi; senior scientist (Agril Economics) Khumbongmayum Rishikanta Singh and scientist (Horticulture) Chingakham Premabati Devi.

The same was issued in reference to a letter issued by Relief and Disaster Management, Manipur to the Regional centre requesting to nominate three local Scientists from KVK.

Relief and Disaster management director AK Ranjitkumar, in the letter on Friday had said that state has been facing many natural calamities recently such as cyclonic storm and hailstorm during the period from March 4 to May 5 and floods from May 27 onwards due to the cyclonic storm ‘Remal’.

It stated that a 12-membered team of Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) will visit Manipur from June 9-12 to assess the situations and requested the centre to nominate the scientists for interaction and discussion during the period of IMCT’s visit.
