Inter-village road, the only route used by the people of Thoubal Khunou, has been in a very deteriorating condition and local residents protested by blocking roads indefinitely.
Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Yumnam Khemchand assured to repair the road on October 14, 2022 under PMGSY. But he failed to repair the route under ward number 18 of Thoubal Municipal Council of Wangkhem Assembly Constituency, residents of Thoubal Khunou said.
Condemning Minister Khemchand, meira paibi Rita Taiyenjam from Thoubal Khunou said that the said road has been left unattended for the last seven to eight years. Locals have been urging the authorities concerned to look into the matter but failed to repair the road, she added.
Rita said that people of the area have started developing breathing problems from the dust of the unrepaired road.
She appealed to the authorities concerned to table the matter in the ongoing Assembly session. She also warned of intense agitations if their demands are not fulfilled at the earliest.
