The nomination papers of an independent candidate from Thoubal-Kakching in Manipur for the ensuing Manipur General Assembly Elections 2022 has been rejected during scrutiny of poll candidates, official sources said.
In the scrutiny of the 47 total candidates of Thoubal and Kakching districts with 10 seats for the ensuing second phase elections to be held on March 5, the nomination papers of independent candidate of Khangabok assembly constituency Md Ashraf Ali was rejected, while that of 46 other candidates were found valid.
Thoubal AC: Nomination papers of INC's former chief minister O Ibobi; BJP candidate Leitanthem Basanta; Shiv Sena candidate Konsam Michal and JD-U candidate Irom Chaoba were accepted.
Lilong AC: Nomination papers of BJP candidate Y Antas Khan, JD-U candidate Md Abdul Nasir, INC candidate Anwar Hussain, and independent candidates Md Irshad Hussain and Md Abdul Manal were accepted.
Wangkhem AC: Nomination papers of INC candidate K Meghachandra; BJP candidate Y Nabachandra; RPI-A candidate Nimaichand Luwang; JD-U candidate K Jadumani; NPP candidate Kh Jiban; and independent candidates Abdul Helim and L Domen were accepted.
Heirok AC: Nomination papers of BJP candidate MLA Thokchom Radheshyam; INC candidate M Okendro; NPP candidate N Diten and RJSP candidate M Totomsana were accepted.
Wangjing-Tentha AC: Nomination papers of BJP candidate P Brojen; INC candidate M Hemanta and NPP candidate Usham Manglem were accepted.
Khangabok AC: Nomination papers of INC candidate O Surjakumar; BJP candidate Kh Menjor Mangang and JD-U candidate Th Jadumani were accepted.
Kakching AC: Nomination papers of BJP candidate Y Surchandra; INC candidate Ksh Kenedy; NPP candidate M Rameswor; NCP candidate Y Nilachandra; JD-U candidate N Nabachandra and CPI candidate Y Roma were accepted.
Wabagai AC: Nomination papers of BJP candidate Usham Deben; INC candidate Md Fajur Rahim; NPP candidate M Ranjit; JD-U candidate Md Shikandar Ali; independent candidate Md Shakir Ahmed were accepted.
Hiyanglam AC: Nomination papers of INC candidate Huidrom Jiten; BJP candidate Y Radheshyam; NPP candidate Maibam Dhanabir; RPI-A candidate N Sanjay; JD-U candidate E Dwijamani were accepted.
Sugnu AC: Nomination papers of BJP candidate M Binod; INC candidate K Ranjit and independent candidate K Muktasana were selected.
The last day of nomination withdrawal for the ensuing state assembly election is Wednesday.
