Patsoi assembly constituency MLA Sapam Kunjakeswor Singh alias Keba on Sunday suggested that those who want to remove Chief Minister N Biren Singh from his post at this critical juncture should consult with psychiatrists.

He was speaking at a meeting at his residence located at Sagolband Tera Sapam Leirak, Imphal West on Sunday.

“While the present state government is trying to bring normalcy back in Manipur amid the present turmoil, some people are demanding to remove the chief minister. Those people need to consult a psychiatrist,” he said.

Even some organisations are pressuring the president of BJP Patsoi mandal to resign from primary membership of BJP, he further said. Normalcy has been brought back to Manipur under the leadership of Chief Minister N Biren Singh. The people themselves can decide whether a government is functioning or not; no organisation can take that conclusion, he added.

The present crisis is extremely critical and no single organisation should dictate the elected representatives without the consent of the general public. Instead, the people need to cooperate with each other including politicians irrespective of political parties, he mentioned.

He pointed out that the people across the nation are aware that the present crisis is a war being waged against the Indian union by militants based on neighboring foreign nations with support from some militants of Manipur.

Manipur could face more severe issues if the Chief Minister N Biren Singh had not initiated the eviction drive at reserved and protected forest or launched the destruction drive against illegal poppy cultivation, said Keba.

The government is carefully handling the present crisis, considering that any misstep could threaten all the indigenous population of Manipur, he said. The people have been suffering for the last five months to protect Manipur, and those sacrifices should not go wasted, he added.

People raised slogans to protect Manipur as a part of the meeting organised by BJP, Patsoi mandal.
